The official Chinese editions of the game were released by Ubi Soft Shanghai. The Leon and Claire scenarios were released separately. Both were released in black cases with cover inserts. Cardboard slipcovers were not used yet. This was probably the first game in the series to be officially released in China.
This Leon edition contains the game disc, a disc with various Resident Evil 2 and perhaps other Capcom contents, a Leon manual, and a green registration card. A rarer edition came with a grey registration card. There may also be a variant with a red registration card, but this is not confirmed.
Both discs have a few matrix code variants, and as a result of being different pressings have minor cosmetic differences on the discs such as variation in the clear area and artwork area around the spindle hole. The variants found so far are shown below. They are all incomplete, missing LBR IFPI codes and other numbers, and also missing mould IFPI codes starting on Y1 followed by two more digits. This represents Shanghai United Optical Disc Co., Ltd., which pressed most if not all of Ubi Soft's games.
