EMI pressed almost all of Geffen UK's black vinyl records, and also the Simply Vinyl reissues. Copper mothers or lacquers were usually mastered at Abbey Road Studios. EMI never added anything to the matrix codes, so the matrices are like they were when the masters left Abbey Road. EMI closed down in late 2000. The site and equipment were taken over by Portalspace Records, which started production in January 2001. They still use Abbey Road as their main mastering studio, so matrix codes may still be as when EMI ran the plant.
