Only one counterfeit of the German CD single has appeared so far. It is referred to as the "+ version". The most striking difference is the matrix code which consists only of the catalog number and "+" repeated around the entire ring. The word "HIRING" is misspelled "HIRINNG" on the disc rim, and the text on the disc is black and not purple as on official copies. "NIRVANA" on the spine is written in lighter yellow than on official copies. A more detailed list of the reproduction errors, with image comparisons, is available here. Complete images of the "+ counterfeit" can be found at the bottom of this document. The "+ counterfeit" was mostly found in Stockholm, Sweden, around 1995. Sweden got flooded with these counterfeits, in 1995 and later they could be found in every independent record store for about $25. Earlier, many Nirvana counterfeits and bootlegs could be found in Sweden, some were even made there, like this probably was. This business stopped when they joined the European Union, because of stricter rules. Later the counterfeit spread all around the world, many supposedly got over to USA. A SONOPRESS matrix version with "NIRVANA" written in white on the spine was spotted at a record fair in Sweden in the 90'es. It has always been labeled as a counterfeit, but it is more likely just a printing defect on an official copy, if it exists at all.
