Pennyroyal Tea 7" test pressing GET 23544 / NI(R)VPR-03 fake
White label 7" with handwritten text on the labels, appeared on eBay in January 2007. Only one copy has been spotted so far. The matrix codes are the same as on the fake "promo" (though the "-" before "A" is missing on the auction page, a typo or is it really not there?) which appeared in 2004, so it could be a test pressing for that record. The seller states it was picked up in Germany in 1996, which seems rather impossible if that's the case. Either way, there is no way this is an official test pressing, because of the matrix codes and the catalog number. As detailed in the document linked to above, the NIR(V)PR catalog number and matrix codes do not make sense for a German or Dutch release (I have argued here that if a Pennyroyal Tea vinyl would be made on mainland Europe, it would most likely be in Holland, not Germany). The other catalog number listed, GET 23544, has the prefix of a German/ Dutch 12", and the number should have started with 21, though it is possible that they ran out of "21-numbers", as All Apologies, released three-four months before Pennyroyal Tea, was GET 21880.
