|
Black vinyl test pressing with MFSL labels for the 1996 reissue on high definition vinyl. Comes in a plain white die-cut sleeves, except one which came in an unnumbered retail sleeve, complete with inner stiffener and rice paper sleeve. There is just a faint impression of the gold ink used to number the regular copies. According to the seller, this copy came directly from a mastering technician at Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab in Sebastopol, California. A copy which was sold by a friend of an MFSL employee came with "258 A2/B2 #1 - A B APPROVED" written on the top left corner of the sleeve. The labels also had the text "258 A2/B2 #1". Another copy came with the same text, except #1 was exchanged with #3. It appears they numbered some of the tests. A2/B2 refers to the number of the cut, and is also reflected in the matrix code. There is also retail copies with A-1/B-1 matrices, but no test pressing has surfaced yet. The two cuts may have been done individually or by two lathes working in tandem. Six copies have sold on eBay so far. Curiously, a set of stampers has also been found.
