The game was bundled with an Xbox 360 console. In North America and Western Europe, Alan Wake was only for download, and not on disc. In Russia, Eastern Europe, a few other European countries, the Middle East and Africa, and possibly Australia, the game came on disc. All three discs were placed on the same spindle.

There are a few cover variants of the game box art. The one shown here was released in at least Greece. There are box variants of the actual outer Xbox 360 packaging as well, whether or not there was a unique box for Greece is not known.
